RF Face & Body Contouring

Radio frequency body contouring (also known as skin tightening) is becoming all kinds of popular as it can help to remove fat, tighten the skin and improve tone, without any pain or downtime at all! For people who have lost weight and need help tightening up loose skin on the face or body this can be a great service. Like most things in this life, it’s not a miraculous cure-all and it takes time to work.

All energy based bio-stimulative treatments naturally require a course of several sessions ( from six to 12 ) and will induce benefits gradually over some months. Look at it like joining a skin gym - great results are rarely achieved in a single session.”

As facials go radio-frequency doesn’t exactly sound the most thrilling, but RF treatments have really good results where tightening and firming skin is concerned. Like laser and LED treatments, RF uses energy to stimulate collagen and elastin production, but the heat energy is electrical rather than light based. It’s this tightening, firming action, brought about by boosting collagen and elastin synthesis, that makes RF especially suitable for targeting loose skin along the neck and chin as well as wrinkles and lines that develop between the nose and mouth. RF is appealing because it’s a non-invasive and relatively gentle way to tighten skin

It can be used on the body too!

Radiofrequency treatments can smooth out stretch marks and tighten areas of loose skin, making it just as apt for your bum as it is for your face. Unlike some other fat reduction methods, this treatment is completely painless, has no downtime and provides an even, feathered result without surface irregularities which can a problem with other technologies.
The treatment is particularly suitable for upper and lower abs and inner and outer thighs, it can also have great results on upper arms. Some swear by its efficacy when it comes to reducing the appearance of cellulite too. When used to treat the body radiofrequency is often performed at a higher temperature.

The beauty of RF is that it is suitable for most people - the depth of heating helps to firm, tighten and lift as well as reinvigorating skin for a healthy glow.

What does it do?
Currently, the most common uses of RF-based devices are to non-invasively manage and treat skin tightening of lax skin due to aging including the dreaded sagging jowls. It can also help reduce flabby skin, tighten arm wings, contour and tighten a post pregnancy tummy, reduce fine lines and wrinkles (on the face and body), reduce saddle bags and even lift and tighten your bum as well as help with cellulite improvement.

How does it work?

The radio frequency energy penetrates the skin layers to selectively heat the skin tissue where the collagen fibers are embedded. The local heating causes an immediate contraction of the collagen fibers, while those all important fibroblast cells ( part of our connective tissue ) are stimulated to produce new collagen and elastic fibers. The effect of this is tighter, smoother, younger looking skin with a visible ‘lift’. Fat cells are reduced and stubborn cellulite looks a lot less noticeable.

What is the treatment like?

During the treatment the machine will heat skin to a bearable 38-40 degrees most patients have zero discomfort although some people are more sensitive to the deep heat sensation than others. The treatment itself is surprisingly soothing, like a warm massage.

How often should you do RF treatments?
For best results, we recommend clients schedule RF facial treatments once a month for six to eight months. After this initial period, you can reduce the frequency to about once every several months or even once a year to maintain your results. For body treatments, we recommend a session once every week to 10 days.

When can I expect to see results?

Most patients will be able to notice an immediate result in the tightness of their skin, but results continue to emerge in the 7 days following the treatment too. Skin is remarkably smoother and muscle tone is more visible too.

For Body treatments, multiple sessions are required, generally 1 per week until you’ve had about 6 -12 treatments in total, this depends on the results you desire and the starting point of the area being treated.

How long does it take?

It can be a lunch break thing, your average radio-frequency body treatment takes anywhere between 20 and 45 minutes with a facial coming in at an hour.  There is very little downtime, so returning to work should not be a problem - you may experience a slight bit of redness for up to 24 hours afterwards but that’s about it.

How long does it last?
After your series of treatments, the effects of your radio-frequency treatments will continue to improve over the next few months as the skin produces new collagen. Results typically last for a minimum of six months, although with ongoing treatments, results are often long-lasting.

Are there any side effects?

Normally there are no side effects from the treatment, but some people might find the treatment area is a little red post treatment but this usually resolves after 30 mins post treatment. Women with copper coils cannot be treated on the tummy.
